The journey began in the early 1980's. I took a beginning weaving course and felt like I had come home. I bought my first loom and started to learn as much as I could about this wonderful hobby. Thirty years later (and more looms) I am still learning. I love colour and experimenting with the interaction of colour and weave structure. I hand paint the warps and dye the weft to co-ordinate, before I weave my tencel scarves. It is a long process but worth the effort. Look at the hand painted tencel scarf shown here. This is the end result of the process.
I started dyeing because I love the variety of colour combinations I can create. It is some how magic to take a plain white yarn or piece of cloth and create something with the colours of a sunset. Recently I have been Snow Dyeing and achieving some spectacular results.
I would love to have you visit my studio and experience the magic of colour. I will have an operating hand loom set up and give weaving demonstrations randomly through out the weekend.
