Mary Ann uses rich colour, texture and pattern to express her passion for life's
beauty and mystery. Working mainly in watercolour and watercolour crayon,
her illustrative works attract the viewer with their detail and design. With increasing
interest in achieving texture in her artwork, she is now exploring acrylics.
Combining acrylics with impasto, her new work - part of a series entitled
The Evolution Series - explore our relationship with change and the ancient
past, as well as the connections between our origin and future.
"As
a painter, an essential source of my inspiration and creativity continues to come
from the natural setting of my home - a 70 acre forest, protected by a conservation
easement with The Couchiching Conservancy. My art often tells stories.
I feel that art is a celebration of the human spirit, as well as offering wonderful
potential for change and hope.".
