Degagne, always the last one in from the bush, was carving cedar spoons for maple syrup and his first Canadian beaver at the age of eight. Two years later he was carving a canoe out of basswood and a full-figure carving of his grandfather. It is no wonder that Degagne’s talent developed into a lifelong passion. Today, Degagne is a Master Wood Carver and winner of numerous awards for his design and artistry. In tune with the sights and sounds of old grey timber wolves, owls, birds, and black bears, Degagne captures their spirit in beautiful woods. Marc’s distinctive carvings are available in boutiques and art galleries across Canada as well as by special commission. Clients around the world can now share in Degagne’s passion for nature and peace through his unique carvings of forest wildlife, as well as his commissioned sculptures in churches and shrines. |
