Ingrid Saaliste is an internationally recognized award winning Ontario-based photographer specializing in wildlife and florals, along with expressive land and waterscapes. She believes that experiencing nature's beauty has the power to nourish and unify us on both an emotional and spiritual level. The current that underlies her artwork is the concept of preservation. She makes every effort to visually capture the true reality of nature in its natural habitat. Objectively, her quest is to find the unseen in the visible and aesthetically present it to the viewer. This she believes, is the essence of photography. Her fine art prints combine tranquil settings, vivid colours and a unique perspective of the environment. Ingrid's love of nature comes from spending summers at her cottage in Honey Harbour, where she now resides. She can often be found in the morning and at dusk in her kayak capturing the glorious scenes that she is known for. She also favours travel photography, owing her inspiration from the late Galen Rowell, and Dr. Roberta Bondar's "Passionate Vision." A graduate of the New York Institute of Photography, Ingrid studied under Richard Martin and Joe Bevilaqua. Her spectacular scenics have won numerous awards in juried fine art shows and corporate competitions. Several art galleries represent her work including the System 4 Gallery and the Liss Gallery in Toronto, the Wellington Gallery in Aurora, For the Love of Art Gallery in Port Carling, and Young's Point Loft Gallery. Her photographs hang in private, government and corporate collections (Canada, U.S.A., Europe, Middle East and Australia), including the flagship Timothy's café at First Canadian Place in Toronto, Her images are archival, taken with a digital SLR camera and are printed on special watercolour paper using pigment inks (giclee's). They are then released as limited editions only. Ingrid also presents her images mounted on art cards which are available in many stores throughout Ontario, Quebec, Colorado and Florida.
