Don's connection with nature began while growing up in Midland, Ontario, and spending summers at Thunder Bay Beach on Georgian Bay. On nature walks with his family, Don learned to notice the tiniest flicker of movement in the forest, finding and naming a variety of birds, animals and plants. Today, Don uses those observational skills with his camera, translating rare glimpses of nature into exciting digital imagery. Don's photographs are taken near his cottage in Waubaushene, Ontario and on his travels across Canada, the United States, Cuba and Costa Rica.
In his photography, Don seeks to capture exciting visuals of animals, birds, insects, flowers, and landscapes and portray them with artistic vision as digital photographs that both inform the imagination and delight the eye. Don hopes that, by sharing his love of nature and photography, others will be inspired to see for themselves the wonder and beauty of the natural world.
Don has shown his work on the Coldwater Studio Tour, at Art in the Park in Penetanguishene, and at various art shows in the Toronto area. He has work on permanent exhibit at Hospice Huronia, in Penetanguishene. Don's fine art photography is available for viewing on his website at www.donsnaturephotography.com
