Born in the Maritimes, Debbe moved to Boston for University, and years later, ended
up in Maine. There is where her passion for traditional rug hooking really took
hold...from buying vintage hooked rugs for her antiques barn, to creating rugs
for the wide pine boards of her 1795 farmhouse, hooked rugs have been a part
of her life ever since. Now, back in Canada, her rugs have given way to more
sculptural works, as well as smaller pieces such as stool covers and basket lids.
From there, a love of all fibres has developed and recently, felting
of all types, wet, needle and Nuno felting has become a passion. Scarves,
purses, journal covers and small wearables will be part of Debbe's offerings at
the Coldwater Studio Tour for this, her first year on the tour and her first
year living in Coldwater.
