Weaving has been Catharine Wilson's passion for over twenty years. As a production weaver, she creates fabrics from fine threads and then fashions them into a wide variety of woven items for her company Duchess Designs.

In 1990, Wilson received her Ontario Handweavers and Spinners, Master Weavers Diploma with distinction for her in-depth study on seersucker

Holding a Master of Education degree from the University of Toronto, Catharine Wilson has lectured, conducted weaving seminars, and acted as juror for art exhibitions in Ontario and the USA. A writer on textile subjects, her articles have appeared in both Canadian and American publications.

For ten years, Wilson "s Studio was one of the stops on the Thanksgiving Images Studio Tour. She has also been involved in several Art Shows in Central Ontario. Presently, her work can be found at Woodside Pottery and The MacLaren Art Gallery.

Continually attending weaving conferences and seminars, as well as experimenting with new ideas and techniques, Wilson keeps her art form alive and vibrant.

This weaver has embraced modern technology, and uses computers on three of her looms to assist her in the creation of her award winning designs. Some of her production items are however still woven on either a traditional treadle loom or by hand on a frame loom.

With an infinite combination of colours, textures, and weave structures, she feels one can never exhaust all of weaving's wonderful possibilities.
